Ross Vios Turbo

We have a new member in our family, a 2008 model white Toyota Vios manual fitted with GT Auto's turbo kit belonging to Dr. Ross.

Recently completed in GT Auto, with the Garrett GT20 turbo the car pulled over 157 PS with over 22 kg-m of torque at the wheels at a mere 0.6 bar of boost.

And still this is all done with the exhaust silencer installed! Nothing beats the benefit of having a manual transmission for maximum torque delivery.

This new turbo kit from GT Auto features an improved design where the intercooler piping routes are much more shorter.

Not only the response is quicker now due to the faster build up turbo spool, the engine bay also looks much more cleaner and stealthier.

If there is anything that you would like to ask about this car, besides myself you may contact the owner directly at ross@viosturbo.com.

Besides the tuning of GT Auto, other highlights of the modifications includes the fitting of an E-Manage, AEM water/methanol injection kit, HKS SSQV III, Turbosmart Ultra-Gate38 external wastegate and the Wilwood Dynalite 4 piston brake kit.

Meanwhile, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Power: 157.87 PS @ wheels
Torque: 22.79 kg-m @ wheels
Boost: 0.6 bar

When you see this sticker, you know whats under the hood

oh man this is an awesome setup, like the engine cover n the low profile look in the engine bay! i wonder if this be done on an auto transmission, would it burst in no time?

thanks for the comments guys, i appreciate it. its really great to see more and more vios turbos on the roads....

as for the auto transmission, please check out hadi's ride. the car is making over 200 wheels with the stock automatic transmission and the car is still alive and kicking now.

this question has been asked and answered many times already...

as long you put in the proper equipments such as an automatic transmission cooler and use good quality transmission oil the gearbox should not give you any problems....

Cool! Upz another turbo vios!

Hi bro, I emailed you some turbo questions, did you received my email? cheers!

very nice build :D

he's got fat torque from 3.2k rpm till 5.2!

Just curious, how much did the water injection help?
Would we be looking at maybe only a max boost of 0.4-0.5 bar?

see liao cannot tahan d la ... poison till the max d hahaha

camo_fly: erm, i get lots of email everyday so if i didn't reply you just send it to me again okays :)

adrian: the water/methanol injection kit played an important role, at the same boost without the injection kit the power output will definitely be a lot lower.

teckham: what you waiting for? come and install one lah :)

Nice owner :)

I've been following your blog for quite some time. Always interested in turbo-ing my car, but the cost speaks the truth :P

Chew Soon said...

thanks for supporting my blog, appreciate it.

actually, i often wondered why would people think that a quality turbo kit is costly?

perhaps its because they are just too many dodgy kits out there which uses 2nd hand stuffs selling dirt cheap...

hence the perception....

Unknown said...

Turbo kit itself, still affordable. However, other things that need to be done as well, bigger rims, good braking system, engine management and etc.

Reliability is another factor, need not to make workshop as second home.

BTW, how much is GT-auto kit for Vios/1NZ-FE?

Chew Soon said...

GT Auto's turbo kit is retailing for RM 12,000. That is including engine management too, on top of installation and dyno tune.

All parts are brand new and is backed by a 1 year warranty.

I agree with you, reliability is crucial thats why its important you go with a reputable workshop who has track records.

but still , for me to forced induction the car quite expensive, not to mention the braking system where costly too am i rite?

by the way, itz necessary to replace brake drum to disk?

how about just upgrade front disk nd keep drum at the back... may it dangerous?

any way, im impress

Chew Soon said...

there is a saying, can't play with the big toys if you don't have the coins.

good quality performance parts never comes cheap.

anyways, to answer your question its not necessary to replace the drums to disc if you don't want to.

70% of your brake bias is at the front, so you might as well spend your money in getting a set of good braking systems for your front.
